Deck: Wisdom of the Oracle by Colette Baron-Reid and Jena DellaGrottaglia

It's no surprise that 'New Life' showed up today. Here in Sussex, there are signs of new life all around - catkins and snowdrops are already out, and the first daffodils will be revealing their pretty yellow heads any day. Despite the cold wind, the promise of Spring is unmistakeable. I see that many of us are experiencing a shift at this time too, myself included. Many people have spoken or written about a palpable feeling of personal change and growth, which is echoing nature.
As above, so below, as within, so without, as the universe, so the soul. - Hermes Trismegistus
With the New Moon almost upon us (check yesterday's post for my new moon Tarot Spread) it's a perfect time to make plans but 'Here and Now' offers a caveat. Plans are fine, but at the start of any new phase, it's tempting to rush hastily forward without noticing what's happening around you right now. This card is a reminder of the importance of staying present and living one day at a time. The following quote came up in my Facebook feed before I drew these cards, and feels appropriate:
If you are depressed you are living in the past.
If you are anxious you are living in the future.
If you are at peace you are living in the present.

- Lao Tzu
Even if you are not depressed or anxious, in the common sense of those words, it's probable that your mind - consciously or not - regularly flits between the past and future. I don't know many people who are truly living in peace! So where does this leave us? What advice can we take from this?

Last week I wrote about 'Active Waiting' - being in a state of trust that things are happening, even if you can't see them (just like the daffodil bulbs that have been underground all winter) and these cards are a continuation... Things are already starting to happen, so notice what is unfolding and be present to the opportunities that are available to you in the moment, but don't act hastily. Like the girl in the second card, take the opportunity to 'sit' a while and let things hatch in their own good time.
